La Vall and Algaiarens beaches

Let's start in the North!

Menorca is an island in the western Mediterranean Sea. Its virgin beaches are paradisiacal and its waters are clean and transparent. Its sands are of different shades depending on the location of the beach.

Today we want to start with some beaches in the north of the island, in a nature reserve and where we can see two spectacular beaches with light greyish-beige sand. The beaches are known as "ses platges d'Algaiarens" or "La Vall" by the locals, they are very beautiful and surrounded by large pine forests.

How to get to ses platges d'Algaiarens / La Vall:

To get to these incredible beaches, take the Ciutadella ring road, head towards Cala Morell, until you come to a turning on the right. At the end of this road you will reach a first car park about 800 metres from the first beach (Es Tancats). If the guards in charge of the area allow you to do so, you will be able to access the second car park which is located about 300 metres from this same beach. All this depends on the availability of parking at the time of your arrival. In Minorca the virgin beaches have a limited capacity, this is important to bear in mind. To get to the second beach (Es Bot) you have to cross the first beach and at the end if you go a few metres inland you will find an access on the left hand side through the pine forest. If you follow the path you can access the second beach and find a stream on the right hand side which in winter reaches the sea. You can also go inland without crossing the first beach, along a path that you will find signposted, something that I do not recommend in the middle of summer because of the heat.
